Today I got word from a little birdy @ JL Audio that they are in the final stages of designing/manufacturing a brand new line of amplifiers for the motorsport market. “HX” is the name of the new line.
The HX amplifier will have a very small footprint (8.66″ x 3.09″ x 1.77″), but will pack a lot of power! The same NexD™ Class D technology that is found in their wildly popular XD line of amplifiers will be featured in the HX line. The amp will be water-resistant (IPX6 rating), corrosion-resistant, and will feature a cast aluminum chassis with stainless-steel hardware.
The 4 channel model will produce 70W x 4 @ 2 ohms, or 50W x 4 @ 4 ohms (RMS, with less than 1% THD+N). The amp will be fully bridgeable, so it can be used as a three channel amplifier, or as a very powerful 2 channel amplifier (120W x2 @ 4 ohms). There will also be a companion monoblock (1 channel) amplifier with 300W of power at 2 ohms! Pricing will likely be announced in January 2015 and the amp should be available for purchase the following month.
I will be taking a closer look (i.e. video feature) at this new amplifier in December. I cannot wait to toss one (or two, or three) of these suckers on my Harley-Davidson Street Glide! If these amps are anything like the larger XD line, then the bagger community will be in for a treat.
